Varsity 0-3 Minnetonka. Away game.
It was one of the worst weather night for soccer IMO. Tempature in the low 30's with strong wind.
The Skippers got going fast with scoring 45 seconds into the match. Not sure what the Orioles trying to
fend of: the bitter cold or opponent attacking. There were many shots from our side but mostly going for
the 3-point field goal which is not the right game. Skippers got another goal before the half with a nice
free-kick setup play. Second half with the wind on their back, the Orioles kept the pressure on and
created chances but shots going to 3-point FG. Skippers scored the third goal with 30 seconds to end time.
Scorers: None.

Varsity 2-1 Blaine. Home game.
The Orioles out hustled the Bengals in most positions. A good setup by George and finished by
Whitney for the first goal. A strong individual effort by Kyle Phillips for the second goal.
Varsity record is 6-5-6 (WLT). Congrats to all Varsity players on a successful season
and good luck in Section 2AA Playoff!
Scorers: Whitney Browne, Kyle Phillips.

JV 3-1 Blaine. Home game.
One word to sum up this season: EXCELLENT!
We still have three players that have not scored: Mike, Sean, and Tyler. So the game plan was to set
them up to score. There were plenty of chances for them but just couldn't convert them. Oh well.
Overall this season has been great for the JV team. Teamwork and Speed of Play were the objectives
and the boys implemented them nicely. There aren't any outstanding players on our team that
can win games all by themselves. Everyone relies on each others variety of skill sets to compete
and be as sucessfull as we have been and that's the teamwork of the Champions.
JV record is 14-1-2 (WLT). Congrat to all JV players on an excellent season!
PS: I would like to say thanks and good luck to Seniors playing on JV team: Xico Osuna,
Levi Kollie, and Ballah Koiblee.
Scorers: Jake, Max, Alex.

Section 2AA Prediction.
This year has been a very interesting year. The competition is very even across all
teams in NW Suburban and Classic Lake conferences. There are some weak teams but in
small amount.
As usual the 2AA Section is always the Group of Death. This year is no
exception. Any of the top 6 teams (out of 8) can win this Section and heading to
State Tournament.
For these teams, it boils down to the day, the wind, and how the
sun and moon are positioned at game time to really find the winner. We could probably
see many shoot-outs after overtime periods. It will come down to the wire for sure.
Here's what I have for this section ranking: 1. Wayzata, 2. Armstrong,
3. Maple Grove, 4. Minnetonka, 5. Osseo, 6. Hopkins, 7. Park Center, 8. Cooper.
It's too tough to call the winner of this Section but it will be determined in
the shoot-out and that's a 50-50 game.

Varsity 1-4 Anoka. Away game.
It was a tough game all around for the Orioles. CJ playing Striker got a few chances.
Albert got a good shot off from the 18 and the Keeper had to make a good save.
Scorers: Kyle Phillips.

|
JV 1-0 Anoka. Away game.
One tactic to sum up this game: SPEED OF PLAY!
Combination of possession, off-the-ball movement, individual techniques, and 1-2 touches
passing making our speed of play much faster and more effective than opponents.
Closing down and quick pressuring tactic when on defensive winning back possession
for us times after times. Xico playing a good game as Sweeper and shut down opponents good.
Ben and Nate are playing a better all around game.
Albert and John got the call up to Varsity game.
Scorers: Philip Nagbe.

|
|
Varsity 0-0 Wayzata. Home game.
One word to describe the highlight of this game:
KKEEEEEVVVVVIIIIINNNNNNNNN OOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
It was a seesaw game with both teams having equal chances in going ahead.
Kevin O'Brien made couple of AMAZING SAVES in point-blank shots in front of goal.
On another note, it's a sad news that Patrick Hager broke his leg today in the first-half.
He will be out for rest of season. Best wishes to his recovery. He will be missed greatly.
Scorers: None.
|
| |
| September 30, 2006 |
|
|
JV 2-2 Wayzata. Home game.
Both teams are pretty much even in many areas with the Orioles having better chances
putting more goals in but finishing wasn't there today. I'm little disappointed in some regular
starters not stepping up their game. To overcome these sort of opponents they must do more
than normal. Albert and John got the call up to Varsity game.
Scorers: Albert, Levi.

Varsity 0-1 Park Center. Home game.
Congrats to Coach Adolfo Reginato on his first conference win.
Scorers: None.
|
| |
| September 28, 2006 |
JV 9-2 Park Center. Home game.
It was a tough start being down two goals but the boys fought back to tie and added
a few more goals for good measure.
Scorers: Rob, Albert(3), Philip (2), Levi, Ballah, Nate.

|
Varsity 0-0 Maple Grove. Away game.
There were many almost-scoring-chances for the Orioles but it didn't go our way. We've outshot the Crimsons
with more quality shots. Hit the post and cross-bar couple of times and straight to the Keeper many times.
The Crimsons controlled the midfield game but couldn't penetrate strong Orioles defensive shield. It was a
seesaw and cautious battle. I guess it was the tie that they're looking for.
Scorers: None.

| |
| September 26, 2006 |
|
|
JV 4-3 Maple Grove. Away game.
Two words to sum up this game: BUTT WHOOPING!!!
There shouldn't be any questions or doubts who's better team in the conference.
Scoring 4-0 after 37 minutes into the game before the Crimsons can answer with a goal to end the half.
The Orioles controlling the midfield, attacking like wildfires with quick passing, off the ball
movement and shooting from every angles. Philip put two rebounds in, Albert burned the defender
and toe-poked one in, John curled one in with left foot shot.
Crimsons defenders didn't know what hit them until too late.
However they managed to claw back in the second-half with two goals while our boys heads got too big
for their britches. It's something we need to work on.
Our boys are playing my kind of attacking soccer and I'm very happy.
Section is next with Wayzata this Saturday. Get ready! There will be another party coming!
GOTTA LOVE PARTIES!!!
Scorers: Philip (2), Albert, John.

Varsity 0-0 Richfield. Home game.
The two teams have similar playing style and strategy but the Orioles playing with higher
intensity and putting more pressure often in the opponents end. The Orioles outshot Richfield
but none made to back of net. No photos for this game since I was the Ref. The assigned crew
didn't show up.
Scorers: None.

|
JV 2-0 Richfield. Home game.
For most part of first-half, the entire team trying to setup for Mike and Tyler to score since
they're the last two are not on the scoreboard. Plenty of shots but no success. Not need to say
but we're totally dominated the entire game and opponents packed the box most of the time.
Scorers: John, Rob.

|
|
Varsity 3-1 Andover. Away game.
The Orioles handled the Huskies comfortably throughout the game. Kyle scored on a penalty kick
in the first half. In the second-half, Lucas added with a header and Patrick finished with a
rebound.
Scorers: Kyle Mader, Lucas Hoang, Patrick Hager.
|
| |
| September 21, 2006 |
|
|
JV 9-0 Andover. Away game.
One word to sum up this game: OVERWHELMED!!!
Once again the clockworks orange gang picking opponents apart early with quick ball movement
and off-the-ball runs. There's no different for the Huskies as they're down within 3 minutes
on Max powerful header. The Orioles jumped ahead 5-0 at half-time. Second half, the Orioles
setting up others to score like our Keeper Ethan. It took much longer than I had thought but
finally he scored from John setup play. The joyous moment for a Coach is to see players
happy expression and celebration after scoring a goal. GOTTA LOVE IT!!!
Scorers: Max, Rob, Albert, Nate, Sager, Ben, Levi, Ballah, Ethan.

|
Varsity 1-1 Elk River. Home game.
One word to sum up this game: BORING!!!
Just wondering for anyone that watched this game, do you think our boys played down to the Elks level?
Come on Orioles! Pick up the pace and play your own game!
Scorers: Lucas Hoang.

|
|
JV 8-2 Elk River. Home game.
One word to sum up this game: OVERPOWERED!!!
Our boys really roasted the Elks today with total control of midfield and setting up for a goals fest.
It's great to see other players scoring like Levi and Muhade.
Look at their happy expression after scoring and you can see why!
Ain't life grand!!! OH YEAH BABY!!!
Scorers: John (2), Philip (2), Albert, Nate, Muhade, Levi.

|
Varsity 4-1 Coon Rapids. Away game.
One word to describe the highlight of this game: MMAAADDDDDEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
Kyle Mader scoring his hat-trick tonight. All goals were in the first-half.
Goal with less than one minute into the game from 6 yards out. Goal from header in the back
door run with Kyle Philips deadly flip throw-in. Goal from a shot just outside the box.
Kyle Mader got the Cardinals numbers tonight.
Scorers: Kyle Mader (3), George Kawalawu.
|
| |
| September 14, 2006 |
|
|
JV 3-2 Coon Rapids. Away game.
Two words to sum up this game: KEEP ATTACKING!!!
Once again we were all over opponent's defending third with plenty of shots on goal. If it
weren't for Cardinals 22 year-old Keeper, we would have lot more goals in the first half
instead of one. Lapses in defending crew gave up 2 goals in the second-half.
Great corner kick from Rob and Albert's powerful header to tie up the game.
Rob scored to win the game on his third or fourth or fifth or sixth (I lost count)
try after shots bouncing off the Keeper. Players are playing my kind of soccer and I like it!
Scorers: Albert (2), Rob.

|
|
Varsity 1-1 Hopkins. Away game.
One word to describe the highlight of this game: TTUUURRRNNNNEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
Can you believe it! Yes that's right! Turner scored in the 30th-minute of first-half with a
direct free kick from about 30 yards out on the right. He beat the Keeper to the short side
with a bend-it-like-Beckam shot. Wow!
Scorers: Jeremy Turner.

| September 13, 2006 |
|
|
JV 1-3 Hopkins. Away game.
One word to sum up this game: AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!
Dominating the opponents throughout the game and in their half 80% of the time with
plenty of opportunities in the box and not coming up with more than one goal is one
heck of a frustrating game. To top it off, the opponents finished whatever chances they've had.
That's just want to make me line up the players and kick every single one in the butt.
AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!
Scorers: Albert.

|
Varsity 1-0 Champlin Park. Home game.
Strong Orioles defense to keep away Rebels attacks. Good strong throw-in by Kyle Mader and a
flick by Kyle Philips to throw off Defender and Keeper for a score.
Scorers: Kyle Philips.

| September 11, 2006 |
|
|
JV 4-2 Champlin Park. Home game.
Two words to sum up this game: TEAM ATTACK!
Solid midfield control and along with strong defense propelled many attacks into Rebels area.
A nice play on the flank with a cross and finish. Nice play up the gut in the midfield.
Nice play caught Keeper out of position. Nice play splitting defenders and excellent finishing.
Scorers: Albert, Max, Philip, Jake.

|
Varsity 1-1 Centennial. Away game.
The Orioles and Cougars are very evenly matched with no real advantages on any positions.
Good fast game with many chances for both sides to go on top. Orioles can do better with
more playing as a team instead of individually.
Scorers: Kyle Mader.
|
| |
| September 7, 2006 |
|
|
JV 1-0 Centennial. Away game.
One word to sum up this game: POSSESSION!
We controled the game 90% of the time and mostly in Cougars half.
Had plenty of chances but Cougars played a packed defense and it's hard to break.
Before not long, the Orioles figured out a way to beat the defense and slotted
a goal with John's dribbling skills and a hard finish from Albert.
Scorers: Albert.

JV 4-2 Spring Lake Park. Away game.
One word to sum up this game: ATTACK!
By now the boys pretty much know about my playing style when we have the ball.
Attacks and more attacks. When on defense: quick transition and press hard. From controlling
the midfield we were able to setup attacks. Defense is doing well but there are some quirks
that we need to iron out. The boys are having fun and I like what I see so far.
Scorers: Albert (2), Rob, Muhade.

|
|
Varsity 0-2 Robbinsdale Armstrong. Home game.
There were opportunities to score in 1v1 with the Keeper but came away empty handed
in first half. The Orioles looked tired in the second half and it's
understandable when played a tough opponent the night before.
The Orioles couldn't contain opponents attacking pressure much longer.
Scorers: None.

| August 29, 2006 |
|
|
JV 3-3 Robbinsdale Armstrong. Away game.
Two words for sum up this game: LESSON LEARNED.
Coming out strong and dominating the midfield with plenty of firing power.
Going up 3-0 by end of first-half. The Orioles took the foot off the gas pedal
and let opponents climbed back into the game with three goals. The Orioles could
have put the game away with a shot into empty net with 30 seconds to go. However
a certain shooter thought that he could go for the glory goal
but instead he missed it completely with a high sky driven ball.
Scorers: Philip, Oscar, Albert.

Varsity 1-2 Highland Park. Home game.
Started up a little slow and gradually picking up the game tempo. Both sides are mostly even on
positions with Orioles controlling more in midfield. Strong defense to keep Orioles in the game,
Plenty of chances for Orioles to take the game but lacking finishing touches.
Scorers: Kyle Mader (PK).

|
JV 5-0 Highland Park. Home game.
One word to summarize this game: DOMINATION!
Strong midfield play from Max and Nathan delivering many attacks in opponents end.
Trent and Ben holding the inside defense firm along with Jacob and Mike on outside defense
continuing attacking. The Scots denied us many goal scoring chances but once the first
goal scored, the floodgate opened up and goals pouring in.
Scorers: Nathan, Albert (2), Philip, Rob.
